pottery barn inspiration

I saw this in the pottery barn kids catalog and I loved it, however I did not love the almost 50 dollar price! So, I went to Target and I found these cute red, white, blue striped mini pails in the wonderful dollar section and then a got a cheap lazy susan from the kitchen section, I think I paid 4 for it. Now I could only fit 3 pails on my version, but that was ok. One holds crayons, one has markers , and one has pencils, scissors, and a glue stick. It works just as well and it matches the color scheme in our playroom. I would display pics but my camera is still being lame. I just want to throw it in the street!!! Anyway I hope to post pics soon as well as pics from the summer preppy swap!

wristlets

OMG I don't what my problem is but I have bought 3 wristlets on ebay since Friday!! True I did have minor surgery on Friday(had a polyp on my uterus removed) and have been on some pain medication, but I don't think I can use that as an excuse , can I? Anway, I have bought one Brooks Brothers, one Coach, and one Dooney and Burke. I just recentley came to the decision that I NEED wristlets for church. I am usually holding b's hand and lugging his huge vera bradley diaper bag, so therefore I need something small for me, right? The Dooney and Burke is a solid white leather flap wristlet and the Coach is a brown leather zip wristlet and I figure I can use those now depending on ehat I am wearing. The Brooks Brothers is a wool plaid with brown leather trim, so it is definatley a fall/winter bag. I think I got good deals. I didn't pay over 40 shipped for any of them.

It is summer!

That's right. L's last day of pre-k was Wednesday! It was so cute, she thought that meant she was going to Kindergarten the next day! we expained that she would be out all summer just like she was the year before . Now the question is, what are we going to do all this time? I have signed her up for VBS at church and I think she is going to Soccer camp ( she wants to play in the fall and I thought that would be good practice)

I guess we will spend a good deal of time at the park and the pool too. Anybody got any really creative summer ideas to share?

Pottery Barn Kids

I think I might buy these towel sets for L and B. The kids bathroon is a pastel/sage green color and the shower curtain and the rings are dragonflies. I did the bathroom when L was 2 and B was not even thought of yet, so sometimes I feel it is too girlie. Maybe these would help.
Also, I see that they have free shipping an all kids backpacks and lunch bags until May 21. I know school is just ending, but I may go on and get L a new backpack for next year and get B the preschool one (he is starting in the fall)

Red, White and Preppy..

I would love to read your blog. Could I get an invite please?

Wish I had known this sooner...

I was walking through Belk kids section today and I noticed they had a ton of Ralh Lauren on sale for 50% off. I started looking at the 3ts for B, but then I noticed a sweater vest hanging under the size 18 to 20 section and I thought "Hey that looks like it could fit me." Well, it did, so I bought it and I paid under$20 including tax for it. I plan on wearing it over a navy polo with kakis and my new boat shoe mules. Anyway,I wish I had know this sooner because the boys stuff is like half the price of the adult. I think I will have to start buying my polos there because the skinny fit ones kinda drive me crazy around the arms. So here is a pic from the RL website of the exact color I got:

Bass Tote

Ok I swiped this picture from Ebay, but I wanted to show you the cute tote I got at the bass outlet Monday. This looks identical to mine. I am going to get the pocket monogrammed .

Free Chicken Sandwich

Just wanted to let you know if you are out and about today and need a quick bite to eat, McDonald's is giving away a free Southern Chicken sandwich today with any med or large drink purchase. I probably won't get one because that is so NOT on my diet, but they are very good if you have not had one.

facebook

Anybody else on Facebook? I have been for a couple of months and haven't thought much about it. Now all of the sudden Mr. SPM decided he wanted an account and can't get enough of it. Its so funny, he has been on for 2 days and he already has more friends than I do. Go figure. Anyway, it is kind of wild, if not a bit scary, how you can find anybody in the world on there. I mean. I know I have this blog and all, but I don't use my actual name on it anywhere. I still like having facebook and I don't think I will get rid of it.

6 Quirky things

Ok, so I was tagged by I Love Your Whole Face to tell 6 quirky things about me. I'm sure Mr. SPM could tell you more, but here goes:

1. I hate bugs. They make my skin crawl just thinking about them. I will not kill them though, because the thought of the sound/feeling of crushing them creeps me out.

2. I love reality tv shows. I know they are cheesy and downright trashy, but I find them entertaining!

3.I have a thing about getting stains on my clothes. If I do, I have to change clothes right then. After having to run home right then one time too many, I now keep an extra outfit in the car all the time.

4.I don't like milk. I haven't since I was a kid. Strangely enough, I do like milkshakes and ice cream.

5.I hoard catalogs. Jcrew, LL Bean, Coach, Vera Bradley, you name it. I keep them for at least 6 months before I toss them. I just like to be able to go back and look.

6.I will not eat leftovers after they have been in the fridge more than 2 days or eat anything after the expiration date.

Now, time for me to tag a few of you.

First the rules:

1. Link the person who tagged you in your post

2. List the rules in the post

3. List 6 quirky things about you

4.Tag 6 other bloggers by linking to them

5.Leave a comment on each person's blog telling them you tagged them.

So, I am tagging:

Advice Needed

I was looking at the shoes at Old Navy and I can't decide whether to get them or not. They are marked down to $9.99 . I like the patterned flats, as they kind of remind me of soome of J. Crew's patterned flats without the hefty price tag.

What do you all think?

more target finds!!

After we got home from church and has some lunch, I headed back to Target!! we really did need some things, so of course I ended up back on the Cynthia Rowley aisle. Today I bought the dishes in the madras and the really cute travel coffee mug in madras. Ok, I really just want a few more things and then I will be finished.....

Didn't have time to swing back by Homegoods, but I will very soon!

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Today started out kind of dark and rainy, but it turned out to be a nice day. the kids had fun playing together while I got us caught up on laundry.

I am still staying on the diet, losing a pound here and there. Tonight I made homeade burgers (turkey-no bun) and fries (baked in oven- no salt) Even the kids liked them, of course i did put a salt shaker on the table for them.

Now time for some online window shopping. I just found this site and I love it!

super cute stuff there!

HomeGoods finds

SPM says "get thee to Homegoods!!" At least ours here. It had some really cute things today. I saw Ralph Lauren Madras pillows on clearance for $12!! They are a navy themed madras so I may have to get them for our playroon, which has a scotch plaid sofa. Anyway, i degress, I also saw pink madras padded hangers for $6.99 a set, super cute lobster and crab ice tea tumblers for $5.99 for a set of 4. They had these really cute placemats and napkins that were cream color with lobsters embroidered on them. It was $14.95 for a set of 4 of. I also loved this cute spoonrest that was shaped like a flip flop for $3.99. They had a good assortment of cookbooks from Martha Stewart and Paula Deen pretty cheap too. I also saw lime green foldable totes for $6.99. It was a pretty blatant Longchamp look alike, but it was huge, and for that price it would make a great pool/ park bag.

I was running short on time (had to pick up L from school) so I didn't buy anything today. I am going back Sunday for the tote, the hangers, and a couple of pillows!

dieting

I am really trying to lose the "baby weight" (haha) that I gained after having both my children. I am trying the 6 week body makeover. Have any of you ever done it? Basically you eat 6 small meals a day with foods based on your body type. For example I am a type B so I can't have carbs until after lunch. You also cant have any oil, saly, sugar, or dairy. I am on day 8 and I have lost 10 pounds already! I am excited about the loss, but the food kinda sucks :( Oh yeah, and no alcohol. I am a have a glass sor 2 of wine at night person, so that part is making me a little CRANKY! Oh well, only 5 weeks to go.

I used the new Target picnic blanket yesterday for the first time. B had a playdate at the park! It is a gret blanket and oh so cute! I also wore my new Lands end ribbon belt with a white t shirt and jeans with the new white LE Trellos I got!

Since you wil be hearing so much about B, here is a face with the name:

That is the only one I has on my computer, so I will post pics of L and D later!

First post

Hi, I am just now starting this whole blogging thing, but I have read a lot of the other preppy blogs, which I really enjoy, and decided to join in the fun. This blog will just feature things from my life as well as preppy things I buy or just want to buy!! My husband will be referred to as D on this blog , my 5 year old daughter is L, and my 2 year old son is B.

This year L is in pre-k 5 days a week, so it is just B and me a lot during the day. We do a lot of playgroups and of course shopping!!

ON TO THE SHOPPING!!!
I know everyone has been buzzing about all the new Cynthia Rowley goodies at target, so I have to share my loot from this week!
I am still learnig how to post photos, but I got the oven mitt, apron, picnic blanket and flip fops all in the madras!! I still want to get the travel mug and tote in madaras!!

I also ordered some goodies from the overstock section of lands end.com last week:
